Basic Library Techniques (BLT) are a group of four special training courses designed for public library directors in communities with a population of less than 10,000 who do not have a Master of Library Science degree. The courses are a requirement of the State Aid to Public Libraries program administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) [ See Basic Library Techniques]. The intent of the BLT program is to provide practical training in Library Administration, Reference, Cataloging, and Materials Selection. The BLT requirement does not apply to library personnel other than the director, but any WMRLS library staff member may attend the courses, space permitting. Staff may register for BLT classes offered in any Massachusetts Regional Library System. The BLT schedule is: |
