WMRLS Continuing Education Policy:

Registration Policy
  • Pre-registration is required for all WMRLS programs. Please use one form per person.  The registration form may be duplicated.
  • Participants may register by mail, delivery, fax, or via our electronic form.  Telephone registrations cannot be accepted.
  • Registration is on a first come, first served basis and is limited to one person from each library only if the workshop is oversubscribed.
  • An individual who does not attend an event for which s/he has registered and neither calls WMRLS to cancel in advance nor finds someone to take her/his place, will receive the lowest priority for registration for other programs scheduled during the next year.
  • Priority for WMRLS Continuing Education programs is given to staff of WMRLS member libraries.  Second preference is given to staff of member libraries from other Regions.  If programs are designated to meet the needs of one library type or function, member librarians of that group will receive priority.
  • If there is still room in a workshop after the registration deadline has passed, the workshop will be opened to people who are not members of any Massachusetts Regional Library System.  The fee for attending will be $100.00 for half day (or shorter) programs and $150.00 for a full day program.  Any interested parties must contact WMRLS Continuing Education Department (413/665-9898 or ce@wmrls.org), to see if there is space available.  If there is room in the program, a space will be held pending receipt of payment (checks only).  Checks must be payable to WMRLS and must accompany the registration form.  Checks should be received by WMRLS before the day of the program.  The payment is non-refundable.
  • We ask that anyone requiring Americans with Disabilities Act accommodations register with WMRLS at least 21 days before the date of the workshop.
Cancellations
  • Registrants unable to attend a program must contact WMRLS at 413/665-9898 or via e-mail at ce@wmrls.org at least 24 hours before the program, or as soon as s/he possibly can.
  • Any registrant who fails to cancel will receive the lowest priority for registration for future programs.
  • NOTE:  Any librarian who consistently cancels his or her attendance at programs, will not be able to register for a workshop until after the registration deadline has passed.

Weather Cancellations

  • If bad weather is forecast and a WMRLS workshop is canceled or postponed, cancellations will be announced on the WMRLS voice mail by 6:00 am. Call the WMRLS voice mail at 413/665-9898 & listen to the message. An announcement about cancellation or postponement is usually on the voice mail by 6:00 am
Professional Development Points (PDP)
  • WMRLS is approved by the Massachusetts Department of Education (DOE) as a PDP provider and is authorized to award “Certificates of Attendance” for all WMRLS continuing education programs.  WMRLS will also award PDPs for all courses that run 10 or more hours and include an appropriate end-of-course assessment that satisfies DOE guidelines.
Computers
  • WMRLS computer lab is a PC lab and has no Macintoshes.  We welcome Mac users in our programs but please be aware that all training will be on the PC’s.  We will be happy to demonstrate very basic uses of the PC to get Mac users started.
