The Western Massachusetts Regional Library System (WMRLS) provides an efficient and cost-effective method for delivery of materials and printed information among its members across the 2,800 square mile WMRLS service area. Delivery is accomplished by WMRLS delivery trucks and by U.S. mail for member libraries that do not receive the delivery service. Delivery is staffed and maintained by WMRLS personnel, with on-board sorting of materials serving to achieve the fastest delivery possible in a system which cannot currently afford daily delivery to all its member libraries.

The Western Region Delivery links to three other delivery systems:

  • Cross-state Delivery (that reaches all the other Regional delivery systems in the state)

  • Hampshire Interlibrary Center (HILC)

  • Cooperating Libraries of Greater Springfield (CLGS) [which receives partial funding for its delivery system from WMRLS]

Because of these links, libraries on any Western delivery route can share materials with libraries on routes all across Massachusetts without direct expenses for mailing or commercial delivery.
