Springfield City Library: Grantseeking for Nonprofits |
| With the demise of the Western Massachusetts Funding Resource Center, the Springfield City Library (SCL) has been designated as a Foundation Center Cooperating Collection. This means that SCL will be acquiring the Foundation Center's databases, a collection of print materials, and access to their library of nonprofit publications. SCL's mission is to assist nonprofit organizations to identify sources of funding and to offer training to such organizations in making application for such funding. | |

|
Each year, this society awards of set of Thornton W. Burgess books to approximately 20 libraries in conjunction with National Children's Book Week. Their goal is to work with libraries to promote continued reading of the books of Thornton W. Burgess. To be considered for this award, librarians should send a letter of request (on library letterhead) to the Society which states the reason for requesting the Thornton W. Burgess Books for the library. Librarians may send the letter anytime during the year to the attention of Jeanne Johnson, Executive Director, Thornton W. Burgess Society, 6 Discovery Hill Road, East Sandwich, Cape Cod, MA 02537, phone 508-888-6870. In November, the society notifies those libraries which are to receive the award - usually 20 libraries are selected. |
