Literacy Coach: Springfield Partners for Community Action, the federally designated Community Action Agency (CAA) for the greater Springfield area, is looking for a Literacy Coach to work with our community partner, Springfield Early Childhood Education Partnership (SECEP). Our ideal bi-lingual candidate will have demonstrated understanding of experience in the field of Early Childhood Education and the ability to interact well with providers, parents and staff. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:· Assist Early Childhood teachers and staff to implement effective, research-based instructional practices designed to increase the numbers and percentages of students who achieve proficiency in literacy by grade four.· Align strategies with the Springfield Public Schools' literacy plan with respect to a continuum of curriculum delivery and support for educators.· Work in conjunction with Springfield Early Care and Education Partnership's Comprehensive Health Team (CHT) at all early childhood and after school programs in the city. Assist providers with use of appropriate literacy materials for all classrooms.· Participate in all CHT meetings and activities. Keep documentation as required by the DEEC Coordinated Family and Community Engagement grant. · Inventory and work actively with all city-based literacy initiatives· Support and help coordinate any family literacy events at early childhood and after school programs in Springfield. Collaborate and assist with any and all city-wide literacy events, fairs, or conferences. · Be knowledgeable of and work in conjunction with the Springfield City library programs. · Outreach to early childhood centers to promote use of the materials and services available in the Springfield City Library Early Childhood Resource Center. Position Description:
This position performs diversified duties related to the lending and borrowing processes involved in interlibrary loan and document delivery, supervises all aspects of Technical Services student employees and coordinates all aspects of library reserve materials. Duties include daily tasks related to all aspects of interlibrary loan and document delivery; communicating with students and faculty at all eleven campuses about these services; Regular searching of OCLC, Ex Libris Voyager, and other databases as well as keeping well organized records and statistics; Processing physical materials for library reserves and interaction with faculty and librarians; Hiring, supervising and training 4-5 student employees.
Position Qualifications:
This position requires knowledge equivalent to that gained through completion of two years of college and a minimum of two years directly related work experience; or the equivalent in combined education and experience. Knowledge and skills include the ability to supervise and hire student employees as well as daily assigning of tasks; Experience with computers, OCLC, and online databases; Experience in technical services and excellent communication skills are essential for interlibrary loan management in the daily interaction with students, faculty, and library staff at multiple campuses. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - BOSTON LIBRARY CONSORTIUM. The Boston Library Consortium, an association of 19 academic and research libraries located in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire, is dedicated to sharing human and information resources to advance the research and learning of its constituency. Founded in 1970, the Consortium supports resource sharing and enhancement of services to users through programs in cooperative collecting, access to electronic resources and physical collections, and enhanced interlibrary loan and document delivery. Position Summary: Under the direction of the BLC Board of Directors and in conjunction with the Board’s Management Council, the Executive Director of the Boston Library Consortium is responsible for managing the programs and services of the Consortium. Working with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides visionary and energetic leadership for the organization; implements strategic initiatives and programs; and seeks new opportunities and funding sources in order to improve services and performance of the member libraries for their constituents. The Executive Director is also a leader among regional and national consortia and academic research libraries. Responsibilities: Lead and manage the implementation of strategic planning initiatives of the BLC. · Work closely and proactively with the Board to develop a shared vision for the Consortium that supports the mission of the BLC and is responsive to the changing needs of its constituents. · Participate in efforts to enhance the reputation of the BLC as a leading library consortium for the 21st century. · Oversee implementation strategies and evaluate progress, results and impacts.
